Regular pancakes are usually made from white flour and are considered not having as many nutrients as those made with other grains. They are carbohydrate loaded so in some cases they can cause your blood sugar to rise rather high. Flour pancakes have no source of fiber but if you use other grains you will be able to provide your body with less carbohydrates and a great deal of fiber. You can use oatmeal as one of those alternative grains to make an Oatmeal Pancake Recipe.

The original oatmeal pancake comes from a country you would not expect it to come from. They come from Sweden and are usually served with fruit and jelly instead of syrup. Oatmeal pancakes can be served with regular syrup too and they taste very good, but you can also put applesauce on them if you do not want to use syrup.

In this recipe use regular oatmeal instead of the microwave type. Also avoid the Quick Oats in the following recipe. The only oatmeal you should use is slow cooked oatmeal and you can use organic oatmeal if you wish.

Easy oatmeal pancakes can be made by combining one and one half cup of rolled oats with two cups of milk in a large bowl. Let this sit for about 10 minutes and continue. In a separate bowl combine one half cup whole wheat flour, one half cup all purpose flour, one tablespoon baking powder, one tablespoon brown sugar, one fourth teaspoon salt, and one half teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix this well with a whisk but be careful not to whisk so hard it flies out of the bowl.

Beat two whole eggs and add them to the oatmeal that has been soaking. Also melt one fourth cup of butter and add that to the oats as well. The last thing you add is one teaspoon of vanilla. Now you take the flour mixture and add it little by little to the oat mixture mixing well by hand until it is all incorporated into a pancake batter.

Get a skillet or griddle hot and add a little bit of oil or butter. Take one fourth cup of the batter and place it on the hot skillet. You will see bubbles start to gather around the outside and once the whole pancake is encircled with the bubbles you can turn it to the other side. Once both sides are nicely browned and the inside is fluffy and light place the pancake on a serving plate. Butter can be placed on top along with some syrup, applesauce, or jam.

A homemade syrup can be made to go along with your oatmeal pancakes and that is an orange syrup. This is really easy to make and will taste divine with the pancakes. In a medium saucepan place one half cup of sugar, one fourth cup orange juice, one fourth cup butter, and one fourth cup light corn syrup. Whisk this all together and heat until it starts to boil. Remove from heat and let cool about 5 minutes and serve over the pancakes. This is not the healthiest topping in the world for an oatmeal pancake recipe but if you want to splurge just once give it a try.

Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day. And in countries like India, breakfast is another opportunity to showcase their colorful and flavorful cuisine. In India, there are various breakfast meals that are favored by people and are at the same time healthy and delectable. In some regions of India, these dishes are served in other meals besides breakfast. If you want deviations from your usual morning munchies, try out some of the Indian breakfast foods listed below.

Chapati – It is unleavened flat bread made of durum wheat. The dough is flattened into a large circle, and dry cooked on a tava or hot pan. Chapati is often served with soups, lentils, chutney, and curries.

Idli – This Indian breakfast is prepared from rice and black lentils baked together to form a savory cake. The white puffed cakes are served with chutney and other spices.

Sambhar – As a breakfast dish, sambhar is a soup or stew that is rich in vegetables and spices. The base of the broth is pigeon peas, or toovar dal, and other ingredients added are potatoes, pumpkin, tomatoes, okra, carrots, as well as spices like fenugreek, coriander, turmeric, mustard seeds, and more.

Stuffed Parathas – This Indian breakfast is not only nutritious but delicious, according to many sources. Commonly, the stuffing is made up of potatoes, carrots, moong, paneer and at some times cheese and radish.

Upma – Upma is an Indian breakfast that could be prepared differently depending on the person making it. It could be made from semolina or rava. Peas, onions, cabbage, carrots, eggplant, potatoes, cumin, and other Indian spices are added. The mixture is cooked in a pan and mixed together as a fried batter.

Tosai or Dosa – This is India’s version of a breakfast crepe, but it may also be served during other meals of the day. The batter is made of rice and lentils ground together and mixed with water. Once the crepe is cooked over a hot pan, it may be served with pickles, curry, chicken, chutney, and other spices or vegetables.

Puttu – Another staple and popular Indian breakfast delicacy, it is made up of rice paste. The rice is kneaded and moistened with just the right amount of water to achieve the ideal consistency. The dough is molded into rolls and steamed in a special contained known as the Puttu Kutti. Puttu may be served with curry, lentils, chickpeas, and also chutney.

Breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day. Since you are still sleepy from a good night’s rest, it is only right that you should know some quick and easy recipes that you can come up with in a few minutes.

If your kids love milk, then offer them something by combining milk with some cereals and fruit. To do that, you pour cornflakes from the box and into the bowl. Add milk and then slice into small pieces a banana or some strawberries and then serve.

For adults, you can substitute cereal with oatmeal which is quite healthy since it has been proven to lower your cholesterol. You can add with your bowl of oatmeal some fruits as well which are also good for you.

You can’t have cereal or oatmeal everyday so why don’t you try something else like an omelet. There are different ways to make it and the simplest one is to cook 2 eggs and add margarine into a frying pan. You can add flavor to it by also putting in some sliced mushrooms, onion and sliced sausages.

Once the omelet begins to set, use a spatula to push the edges of the egg mixture in. Keep doing this until you can flip one side of the omelet over the other one and then serve on a plate.

Do you want some bread for breakfast? Well you can by making blueberry French toast. To do that, you will need some eggs, milk, cream cheese, blueberries, vanilla and cinnamon.

Using a blender, beat together the milk, cream cheese, and blueberries until smooth then set aside. Using a medium mixing bowl, beat the eggs then add vanilla, and cinnamon. When you are done, add the blueberry mixture.

The last thing to do before serving is to dip the bread in the batter, and fry in a pan or griddle until slightly browned.

Another all time favorite is the waffle and if you want to add some spice to it, don’t just make any and go for the German waffle.

The ingredients for the German waffle include half a cup of butter, some sugar, egg yolk, milk, flour, baking powder, salt and gratings of lemon.

Now cream the butter and add the sugar until this turns into a cream then add the egg yolks and beat thoroughly. Next, sift the flour, salt, and baking powder together and add this to the creamed mixture alternating with the milk. Add the lemon peel and blend thoroughly then cook using a hot waffle iron and serve.

Pancakes anyone? Well try out the French Jelly Pancake. If you know how to make pancakes, we can already skip forward and move on to the best part which is adding the jelly. You have to do this while it is still hot and spread this evenly to keep it from spreading.

Next, dredge this with sugar and to make it look attractive, burn some lines around it using your toaster before serving.

Breakfast is important and fortunately, there are a lot of great quick and easy recipes that you can serve when you get up in the morning. As refreshments, always serve it with a cup of coffee or tea for the grownups and milk or juice for the kids.
